SHERIFF’S
ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES
Okaloosa
County Sheriff Charlie Morris says the Florida Sheriff’s Association has now
formulated its list of top legislative priorities. A major focus remains
improving retirement benefits for high-risk employees, along with 9-1-1
operators and telecommunicators.
Also in the statewide law enforcement spotlight: specific steps for modifying
and strengthening the sexual predator and sexual offender legislation, also
known as the Jessica Lundsford Act, increasing enforcement of red light running
with automated cameras at intersections and other technologies, and
strengthening state laws related to mutual aid agreements between city, county,
and state law enforcement agencies.
