BUCKLE UP IN YOUR TRUCK!

Pickup trucks are twice as likely to rollover as cars, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says pickup truck drivers and their passengers are among the least likely folks to regularly wear their safety belts.

That’s why the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies across the Southeast are working to get out the message “Buckle up in your Truck”!

1,782 people were killed in pickup truck crashes in Southeastern states in 2004, including 343 in Florida , and 71 percent of the pickup truck occupants killed in those crashes were NOT wearing their seat belts. Yet safety belts boost your chance of surviving a pickup rollover by up to 80 percent.

Sheriff Charlie Morris says - don’t be a pickup truck statistic. Buckle up – every trip, every time!
