DISCOVERED IN DESTIN RETENTION POND
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man whose
body was found around 3:11 Saturday afternoon in a retention pond behind the
Destin Commons Shopping Complex. The man has not yet been identified.
Investigators are checking area missing person reports for any leads.
The man was found face down in the water and the death is being treated as
suspicious at this time. It appears he may have been there for several days but
an autopsy will be conducted Sunday to try to confirm a time and cause of death.
Meantime, members of the Sheriff’s Office Dive Team scoured the pond for any
evidence. Anyone who may have information relevant to the case is asked to
