OCSO STAFFER WINS STATEWIDE AWARD

Over the years, Bill Grigsby of the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, has recovered literally thousands of dollars worth of stolen merchandise to be returned to the rightful owners. Those efforts working with pawn shop and second-hand dealers have earned him statewide recognition. Grigsby recently received the Florida Law Enforcement Property Recovery Unit Legislative Award.

It recognizes his "extra fidelity and exemplary meritorious conduct in performance of outstanding service to the victims of the State of Florida in 2006 and his assistance to the Florida Legislature which led to the passage of Senate Bill 694." That bill requires second-hand property dealers to keep detailed records pertaining to the merchandise they obtain.

Grigsby has served with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office for a total of thirteen years of his thirty-seven-year law enforcement career.
