SCAM BUSTING REMINDER
The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office
wants to remind residents to beware of callers who ask for personal information
over the telephone.
Crime Prevention Specialist
Ashley Bailey says the Sheriff's Office has received reports of a man calling
homes and representing himself as an employee of a local city water department.
The caller says there is a problem with the person's water bill and asks for
their credit card account number to clear the problem. Some of the calls are
being left as voice messages with a return number. The Sheriff's Office is
investigating.
Anyone who receives such a call or message is asked to contact the
Sheriff's Office CASE Fraud Hotline at 651-7674.
