NURSE CHARGED WITH DRUG TRAFFICKING
The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office has arrested a nurse at a local
doctor's office on charges of using her employer's DEA license to illegally
place orders for controlled substances.
41-year old Christine Ann Sampson, with a last known address 913 Middle
Drive in Fort Walton Beach, is charged with trafficking in illegal drugs,
possession of controlled substances, grand theft, and credit card fraud/grand
larceny.
Investigators say Sampson, who placed orders for office and medical
supplies, over-ordered many drugs between March of 2005 and October 2007 without
the doctor's knowledge or consent. Sampson charged them to her employer's
office credit card in excess of $5000.00, then diverted the substances, either
alone or with co-conspirators.
Investigators say a significant number of the drugs ordered by Sampson
were painkillers and anti-anxiety medications, which have a high propensity for
abuse and are in high demand on the streets.
