4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS SAFETY

Fireworks and the 4th of July go hand-in-hand but the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind everyone to think “safety first” this holiday weekend. Deputies will be enforcing fireworks laws, so keep in mind that anything that flies or explodes is illegal in Florida. You can however use sparklers, fountains, and smokers.

Remember to read and follow all the directions, keep small children away from the fireworks, never relight those that don’t work, and buy from a state-certified fireworks distributor only.

You should also make sure to put any used fireworks in a bucket of water before you dispose of them.

Also, if you plan to drink alcohol, be sure to have a designated driver. That includes if you’ll be boating during the holiday. The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office will be strictly enforcing DUI laws.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July.
