CRASH AT HWY 98 & MARY ESTHER BOULEVARD IMPACTS TRAFFIC

As of 5 a.m., an investigation into a traffic crash has shutdown a major  intersection in South Okaloosa County and is expected to cause significant delays for commuters in that area.

Investigators are on the scene at Highway 98 and Mary Esther Boulevard in Mary Esther, where a tractor trailer truck crashed into a concrete wall in the area and spilled a large amount of diesel fuel. One person has been seriously injured and was taken by medical helicopter to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.

Both lanes of Highway 98 are closed between Mary Esther Boulevard and Doolittle Avenue. Mary Esther Boulevard is also closed from Hollywood Boulevard south to 98. East and westbound motorists who typically use Highway 98 are being diverted to Hollywood Boulevard.
