FALLEN OFFICER MEMORIAL DEDICATION

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, community leaders, and family members of three deputies killed in the line-of-duty gathered Wednesday to dedicate a new "Fallen Officer Memorial" in front of the OCSO Administration Building in Shalimar.

Today marks the one-year anniversary of the agency's first in-the-line-of-duty death. Deputy Tony Forgione was killed during an operation involving the Special Response Team. In April, Deputy Skip York and Deputy Burt Lopez died at the hands of a domestic violence suspect they were attempting to apprehend.

Sheriff Ed Spooner says the new Memorial is designed to not only pay tribute to their sacrifices, but also to serve as a daily reminder of their dedication to serving Okaloosa County residents.
