A Crestview man arrested for trafficking in heroin denied selling the drug and told deputies he was a “beast” who could easily ingest an ounce of heroin by himself.
An Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputy was called to condos at 1300 Miracle Strip Parkway February 20th in response to what was reported as an attempted burglary in progress.
The deputy made contact with 39-year old Jonathan Berry of 129 Jeff Drive. Berry said he was waiting for the manager to give him a key to his mother’s condo, however the deputy determined Berry has an active trespass warning for his mother’s unit.
During a search, the deputy found Berry had 28 grams of heroin in jeweler’s bags, as well as syringes. Berry said he bought the heroin in Arizona and that it was for personal consumption.
Berry is charged with trespassing, trafficking in heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
