The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Guatemalan man in the country illegally with sexual battery on a fourteen year old girl. The girl disclosed the abuse to family members who took her to HCA Destin-Fort Walton Beach Hospital.
Follwing an OCSO investigation, 24-year old Jose Chan of Landview Drive near Fort Walton Beach is now accused of sexually assaulting the girl at her home last February 25th.
A medical examination of the victim showed a positive finding for sexual abuse. Florida Department of Law Enforcement lab results also found evidence of the girl’s DNA on Chan, via buccal swabs obtained from the defendant.
The FBI confirmed the identity of Chan due to his past deportation by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection on February 9th, 2024.
