Mission Statement
The OCSO Honor Guard was established in 1997 to represent Okaloosa County, the Sheriff’s Office, its officers and families at police funerals, parades and other ceremonial occasions. It is our intention to assist all officers and their families during their time of emotional duress from the loss or debilitating injury of their loved one.
The membership of the Honor Guard has grown from its initial five members to fourteen, including a ceremonial piper. The team is comprised of volunteers from many different assignments within the Sheriff’s Office. Understanding the mission of the team is honoring others, the members intentionally do not wear name tags or rank. Our motto best reflects our mission, “Honoring Service and Sacrifice.
