WHITE ARREST REPORT

A Crestview man considered armed and dangerous and wanted in connection with multiple felonies in multiple jurisdictions is now off the streets thanks to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

OCSO deputies were on the trail of 31-year old Jon Michael White beginning around 6:30 last night. White is wanted for questioning in connection with an arson investigation in Covington County Alabama as well as multiple area residential burglaries. Deputies learned around 7 p.m. Sunday that he had been dropped off at the Niceville Wal-Mart. They located him inside the store but White, who weighs approximately 250 pounds, charged one of the deputies and struck him in the shoulder before running out an emergency exit and into the woods. He lit a fire in the woods in an attempt to evade arrest. The Niceville Fire Department extinguished the fire.

A perimeter was set up and a K9 Unit called in to try to track White. The Niceville Police Department, who assisted with the search, received calls of a man matching White’s description trying to open car doors in the Swift Creek neighborhood. A few hours later he was located riding in a car stopped by OCSO deputies on John Sims Parkway for an expired tag.

He was taken to the Okaloosa County Jail.

The OCSO has charged White with resisting arrest with violence, resisting arrest without violence, and battery on a law enforcement officer. He is a suspect in a burglary at 610 Mountain Drive in Destin on October 16th as well as other regional break-ins.

The Covington County Alabama Sheriff’s Office has also placed a hold on White.

The investigation is continuing.
