The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Destin man with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon in connection with a shooting in the parking lot of Sea Glass Apartments on Commons Drive June 14th.
56-year old Timothy Rettinger was arrested June 20th. The 60-year old victim suffered three gunshot wounds, two to the back of his right shoulder blade, and one to the back of his neck, leaving him paralyzed from the neck down.
Investigators say it started with an altercation that escalated. Video captured by a car at the scene shows the victim driving quickly through the parking lot in a white truck when he stops, pulls off to the right, and his driver’s side door opens. At about the same time, Rettinger’s truck pulls up next to the victim and smoke/glass can be seen exploding from his car. The victim can be seen falling and Rettinger drives away, later calling the OCSO to report his location. While treating the victim, emergency medical personnel found a pistol underneath his torso.
