A traffic stop on a car speeding across Marler Bridge in Destin led to the arrests of two individuals on drug trafficking charges Thursday night. Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies spotted a white pickup truck with Illinois tags speeding in the westbound lanes of Highway 98 around 9:30 p.m. After the traffic stop, an OCSO K9 Unit arrived and conducted a free air sniff around the outside of the car. The K9 alerted to the odor of narcotics coming out of the vehicle. 44-year old Willie Carter of Fort Walton Beach is charged with trafficking in fentanyl, trafficking in oxycodone, trafficking in methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. 31-year old Lace Melvin of Destin is charged with trafficking in oxycodone, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
