Alert citizens are credited with leading Sheriff's Deputies to two teenage burglary suspects before dawn on Easter Sunday morning.
Charged with Burglary of a Vehicle are Blake Alexander Overman
(pictured left), age 18 (11-17-1985) of 1879 Heartland Drive, Fort Walton Beach; and Antoine Jan Veldkamp
(pictured right), age
17 (1-6-1987), of 467 Rush Park Drive, Mary Esther.
A resident of Northern Pine Boulevard called the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office at 3:30 Sunday morning to report two males in dark clothing burglarizing his car. The caller's wife had awakened and saw the activity on a security camera that shows the home's driveway and approach.
Deputies were already in the vicinity from a call less than 20 minutes earlier, in which a citizen reported two suspicious individuals on Schneider Drive.
Two Deputies were on scene at the Northern Pine Boulevard location within two minutes of the call; Overman was found in the driver's seat of the victim's car, and Veldkamp was discovered behind a nearby bush.
Overman was found to be in possession of a flashlight, and Veldkamp had a Swiss Army style pocketknife; accordingly, both were also charged with Possession of Burglary Tools. Overman, found in possession of several dollars in loose change, was also charged with Petty Theft.
